Promote Your Club or Bar With Online Tools
There are many useful tools online that any bar or club owner can use in addition to their regular means of advertising and promoting up coming events. Some like to use social networking sites to get the word out, and other use places like Myspace.com in addition to a business web site. These certainly have their limitations, but they also have their advantages. They are great promotional tools if they are used in the correct manner.
Social bookmarking sites are a lot like the bookmark feature you find on your Internet browser, but they work in a different way. The feature on your browser is used to save favorite sites, but that information is only available to the person using that particular computer. Social bookmarking sites, on the other hand, save information and links in the same way, but the information stored is available to the Internet at large.
Each social bookmarking site has its own base site online. Once signed up, these sites offer tools anyone can use to save links online. When these links are saved, the user adds tags or keywords so that others can find them. Some like to bookmark news or political stories, and some store whatever catches their fancy. Other users can then use their own search terms to see what others have found interesting. Some have lists of the most viewed content, and also have top ten links for different categories like entertainment, shopping, health, news and just about any other category imaginable.
How does this help a bar or club onwer? When these links are saved, they are found much more easily by the search engines, and that means a higher ranking, so long as the site is relevant. This also means that if the correct tags or keywords are used, others looking for clubs, bars, and events online are going to find those related links. That means a business owner should have access to quite a few of these social bookmarking sites so they can link to each new page.
There are some things to consider before doing this however. When this is done exclusively for the reason of publicity, many feel that they are being spammed. That means anyone using this tool for promotion should also use that same tool to save other sites they find interesting that have nothing to do with their business. Many of these sites will remove users they suspect of spamming. To avoid that, don’t link to a page more than once.
Sites like Myspace are great for promoting the bar or clubs information. Having dates of upcoming events, specials, and hours of operation are all great things to add. Customers can then add a bar or club as a ‘friend’ and they can come back whenever they want to see what is coming up next. Myspace pages can also be bookmarked, but remember to only do it once. Both methods are effective when used properly, and while they won’t bring in all of a businesses’ customers, it is certainly a useful part of any good advertising and promotional campaign.
